Paul Hartley confident of Dundee comeback after Ross loss

Dundee manager Paul Hartley is backing his side to recover from their Celtic Park thrashing when they welcome Ross County to Dens Park in the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership.

The Dark Blues went down 6-0 to Ronny Deila's men in Glasgow last Sunday in a performance which Hartley later admitted was "embarrassing".

Now they have the chance to salvage some pride as County prepare to arrive on Tayside with their boss confident they can bounce back.

Hartley said: "It was a major disappointment what happened against Celtic.

"But now we have to focus on what's going to be a really tough game against a really good Ross County team.

"In the past, we have responded quite well after a disappointing result. Hopefully that is the case come Saturday.

"We will learn from the Celtic game I'm sure because we've looked at what went wrong. We had a real good talk after the game. It was constructive.

"I don't think there's any point going in going in and shouting sometimes. I think you have to show them the facts of it and what went wrong. Now we have to try and make amends at the earliest opportunity."

Dundee midfielders Paul McGowan and Nicky Low will miss the Ladbrokes Premiership clash with Ross County.

McGowan remains out with an ankle injury while Low is sidelined with a virus, while Dylan Carreiro is on international duty for Canada Under-23s.

But Spanish defender Julen EtxaBeguren is fit after shaking off a hamstring injury.

Ross County manager Jim McIntyre has declared an unchanged squad. Defender Andrew Davies (back), striker Craig Curran (concussion) and midfielder Rocco Quinn (hamstring) all sat out the midweek hammering of Falkirk.

Ross County scored seven goals and Dundee conceded six in their most recent games, but Dingwall boss McIntyre feels that will only make his opponents more dangerous.

Two days after Dundee were thrashed at Celtic Park, County demolished Falkirk in the third round of the League Cup.

But both sides are challenging in the top six of the Ladbrokes Premiership and McIntyre expects Dundee to shake off their Parkhead experience when they return to Dens Park action on Saturday.

"Dundee have just lost heavily at Parkhead and they will be wanting to show a response to that, so that makes them very dangerous," McIntyre said.

"They have had some great performances and great results as well.

"They are only three points behind us so the incentive is there for them to be on a level pegging with us. The games against them last year were very close and I expect this one to be no different."
