This low level faecal trolling is of course a reference to the fact that, during England’s opening World Cup game at Italia 90, England’s number nine went number two on the Cagliari turf. (We’ll spare you the video but it’s here if you REALLY want to see it.)
It should be pointed out that Lineker was unwell at the time, it’s not like this was standard practice for the man they called the Queen Mother of football.
Today is the 25 anniversary of that auspicious occasion and of course people have not been slow to remind him about it. So he decided to tackle it head on.
