England’s women team couldn’t hide their elation after triumphing in their World Cup bronze medal play-off, celebrating wildly on the pitch as they collected their medals.
And the Lionesses continued the party in the dressing room after their best ever World Cup performance and their first ever win over Germany.
Lianne Sanderson, Toni Duggan and Eniola Aluko were just a few of the players posting selfies as their achievement sank in.

Karen Carney posted a pic with best friend Laura Bassett – who had huge support after scoring the decisive own goal in the semi-final – with the caption: “No filter needed!! I love this girl @laurabassett6 #wedidit”
Lucy Bronze had another top game in the 3rd/4th play-off is up for the World Cup Golden Ball award – maybe she needs to get used to seeing her face on television now.

It was hard to find a picture of an England player not smiling. Not sure there is an emoji available yet that covers this expression from Fran Kirby though.

We understand what she’s trying to say here though – a memorable image of the Lionesses, coach Mark Sampson and the backroom staff marking a breakthrough summer for women’s football.
