Ask any football fan and they’ll tell you that modern football has its pitfalls. Whether it’s expensive tickets, neglect of the grassroots or little to no interaction between players and fans, there’s definitely problems.
Turkey isn’t without its own problems in football – after all, football there has been suspended for the week due to an incident involving a gunman shooting the Fenerbahce team bus and injuring the driver.
When it’s good though, it’s really good – as this video of Wesley Sneijder whipping up some noise from the fans shows.
That’s apparently a bit of a tradition in Turkey. First, the player gets the fans to stand. After shushing them he counts to three, before they all start singing.
It’s the kind of interaction fans want to have with their players, and the kind that can help both the players and the fans.
Maybe we’ll be seeing something like that at the Emirates soon? Nah, we don’t think so either.
