Max Power fires Wigan to Peterborough victory
Wigan survived a second-half storm to move onto the brink of the League One play-off places courtesy of a thrilling 3-2 triumph at Peterborough.
Max Power fired the Latics to victory with a crucial 83rd-minute strike which arrived only 77 seconds after they had seen a two-goal cushion wiped out.
Loan ace Yanic Wildschut had earlier played a starring role as Gary Caldwell's men eased into the ascendancy with two goals in four miniutes.
The Dutchman raced past a series of challenges to break the deadlock after 11 minutes and then turned provider as Will Grigg got the final touch to a Reece James effort after Wildschut had delivered from the left.
But Posh gave themselves hope when Erhun Oztumer halved their arrears in the 62nd minute. The Turkish ace pounced after a Conor Washington shot had been saved and a Lee Angol follow-up blocked.
And Posh completed the comeback courtesy of an inspired substitution as Souleymayne Coulibaly tucked away an Oztumer pass in the 81st minute - only two minutes after he had arrived from the bench.
But Posh were quickly hit by a sucker punch as Power raced onto a Grant Holt pass to earn Wigan all three points.
