Real Madrid Appeal Ronaldo Ban

Real Madrid are appealing against a one-match ban handed down to Cristiano Ronaldo in the hope that the Portuguese striker will be available to play against Eibar on Saturday.Ronaldo was booked for diving in the 51st minute of Wednesday's 2-0 victory at Rayo Vallecano.Real believed he should have been awarded a penalty instead of being shown a yellow card following a challenge from Rayo defender Antonio Amaya. The caution was Ronaldo's fifth booking, which results in an automatic one-match ban.A statement from Real Madrid read: "Real Madrid will appeal the yellow card that Cristiano Ronaldo received in yesterday's game against Rayo in Vallecas."Real also have German midfielder Toni Kroos and Colombian forward James Rodriguez unavailable this weekend through suspensions. Both players were also booked on Wednesday.Carlo Ancelotti's side are second in the Primera Division standings, four points adrift of league leaders Barcelona with eight games remaining.Ronaldo struck his 300th goal for Real on Wednesday and is the leading scorer in La Liga with 36 goals.
