8 things we learned as Arsenal ground out a win over Burnley

Arsenal kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea (not actual pressure – there is no pressure on Chelsea) with a 1-0 win over Burnley. It wasn’t pretty, but it was effective as the Gunners racked up their eighth straight win. Here’s what we learned along the way… 1. Aaron Ramsey is back (Dave Howarth/PA) 5 – Aaron Ramsey has been involved in five goals in his last four Premier League games (scored two, assisted three). Pivotal. — OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) April 11, 2015 Ramsey got the early goal from the Gunners on his 150th league start. This season may not have hit the heights the last one did, but he is in a purple patch right now – for club and country. 2. Francis Coquelin has made himself indispensable Francis Coquelin is unbelievably good at what he does. — Arsenal News (@__arsenal_news_) April 11, 2015 What more can you say about Coquelin? The guy is unreal. — Renato (@th14Renato) April 11, 2015 For a guy who was on loan at Charlton a few months ago, Coquelin has become remarkably important to the Arsenal cause. He’s a calming influence in midfield, a shield for the defence and a firefighter all rolled into one. And there’s a new term to describe exactly what he does… You've just been #CoqBlocked — Nick (@Arsenick3) April 11, 2015 3. Being a football fan is confusing That's one very confused Arsenal fan. (pic via @HLTCO) pic.twitter.com/z8s3lrl93m — MUFC Peoples Person (@PeoplesPerson_) April 11, 2015 Or maybe that should say ‘being a bishop is confusing’. Bishop of Burnley Philip North, who is supposedly an Arsenal fan, was picked out by the TV cameras wearing a Burnley scarf. We’re not sure that’s going to please anyone much. 4. David Ospina is either underrated or overrated You could toss a baby at Ospina, he'd still punch it clear. — Tosí (@OzilAssist) April 11, 2015 We can’t make up our minds up about the man keeping Wojciech Szczesny out of the team – and neither can the fans. On the one hand he’s been very solid and there’s something very likeable about him. Imagine not liking Ospina. — Billy Dunmore (@EducatedGooner) April 11, 2015 Ospina commands his box, brilliant goalkeeper. #afc — Gunner Report (@GunnerReport) April 11, 2015 On the other hand, there’s something unconvincing about him that makes it feel like he isn’t a long-term solution for Arsenal. Ospina is the king of making a routine save look impossible. He's that guy who loves embellishing boring stories. — João Matthews (@joaomatthews_) April 11, 2015 Ospina is such a nothing keeper. Awful business from Wenger as per. — Sync (@xRaheemGo) April 11, 2015 The jury is out. 5. Burnley fans don’t like Mike Dean (Rui Vieira/AP) Some Burnley players, not mentioning any names, took a predictably physical approach to the encounter. Some Arsenal players, not mentioning any names, took a predictably theatrical approach to the encounter. This led to a difficult evening for referee Mike Dean. The Burnley fans weren’t impressed. Dean will need more security than Obama to leave Turf Moor if he carries on like this. — No Nay Never (@NoNayNeverNet) April 11, 2015 Mike Dean is absolute disgrace @premierleague he's a joke. — Andy Devanney (@AndyDevanney) April 11, 2015 First half tweet report: Burnley 0-1 Arsenal. Sunny evening. Gunners scored early on. Home fans want to burn referee Mike Dean on a stake. — Julian Harris (@attacktheball) April 11, 2015 6. Sean Dyche has a sense of humour (Dave Howarth/PA) This was his reaction to one decision from Dean just before half-time. Dean makes Dyche laugh at bizarre award of free kick, before seemingly changing his mind. Sums up his half — Chris Boden (@bodenknights) April 11, 2015 7. Ben Mee is fun to watch Not because of his football, necessarily – more so you can make jokes about his name. Ben Mee has two children called Shape and Anyway-You-Want #BFCvAFC — Michael Pate (@BallsToIt23) April 11, 2015 Commentators' references to Ben Mee have been a simple pleasure whilst watching Burnley this year e.g. "Good defending by Mee" — TacheyDelBosque (@TacheyDelBosque) April 11, 2015 8. But Burnley aren’t Hope Burnley aren't on TV anymore. Two weeks in a row, with the most boring matches I've watched this season. — L3ahpar (@l3ahpar) April 11, 2015 Burnley v Arsenal is so dull that I'm wondering whether there's ever been a Premier League game where no subs have been used — Michael Cox (@Zonal_Marking) April 11, 2015
