Jackie McNamara says he is delighted to be back in management after being appointed as York boss.McNamara parted company with Dundee United in September after a poor start to the season but takes charge of the Minstermen following Russ Wilcox's departure last month.Former Wolves defender McNamara will be joined at Bootham Crescent by ex-Scotland team-mate Simon Donnelly, who becomes his assistant for a third time.McNamara began his managerial career with Partick Thistle and the club were second in the Scottish First Division in January 2013 when he left to take the vacant position at Dundee United. But the 42-year-old admits he is up for his new challenge south of the border, with York currently 22nd in Sky Bet League Two after taking just two points from their last eight games."I'm delighted to be back, it's a great challenge and a fresh start to be back in England and I'm looking forward to it," McNamara told Sky Sports News. "I was fortunate to play a couple of years in England."I was a bit open-minded coming to speak to them but once I spoke to the chairman and he sold me, not just his ambition for the club but his passion and beliefs for it, that was a big draw for me. "There's a few Scots down here doing very well, like Derek Adams at Plymouth, he's flying, so hopefully I can make an impact like Derek and take the club forward."First up for McNamara is a trip to Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup first round on Saturday and he has set his sights on a morale-boosting victory."The most important thing is we crack on up the league and make sure we get back to winning ways. We have a big FA Cup game on Saturday away to Accrington Stanley and another game midweek against Barnsley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy."It's a tough start but one we are looking forward to and hopefully get a bit of confidence going into the league games."
